How To Make The Perfect English Muffin
What is an English Muffin?
The English muffin has a unique quality. They may be soft on the inside but get crispy on the outside due to their crevices or other characteristics. We can all agree that English muffins are lovely regardless of the cause.
For a traditional breakfast, toast an English muffin and spread butter and jam. For a complete brunch, get inventive and add avocado, bacon, and eggs to your muffin. With everything from tuna salad to roasted vegetables, English muffins are a terrific addition to any lunchtime sandwich.

Ingredients needed to make English Muffins
There are two stages in making an English Muffin. That is the Poolish and Muffin stages. The ingredients required for these stages are listed separately below.
Ingredients for Poolish.
- 1 Sachet/7g Instant Yeast
- 1 tsp/6g Sugar
- 100g Flour (Ideally Bread Flour for better results)
- 100ml Water
- 50ml Whole Milk
Ingredients for Muffin.
- Above mentioned poolish
- 1 Egg
- 200g Flour (Ideally Bread Flour for better results)
- 1 tsp/6g Salt
- 25g Unsalted Butter
- Flour for dusting
How to make English Muffins step by step
How to make Poolish
- Add yeast, sugar, flour, water, and milk to a bowl and whisk well.
- Cover with plastic wrap or a tea towel and leave to rise for about 1 and 1/2 hours.
How to make an English Muffin
- After 1 1/2 hours add an egg to this poolish mixture.
- Add flour and salt to a mixing bowl and mix.
- Add the poolish mixture made earlier to that mixture and mix.
- Add butter and mix
- Mix the mixture until it becomes dough.
- Place the dough on a floured surface.
- Cut the dough into 8 equal parts.
- Now make the broken dough into balls.
- Now place the dough balls in a floured baking tray.
- You can use pastry rings if you like. In this case, we place 4 Flour balls in pastry rings and 4 Flour balls as usual. You can customize it in either of these two ways.
- Now sprinkle some flour on top of these flour balls.
- Cover with a tea towel and leave to bloom for about 1/2 hour.
- Now remove the tea towel and place baking paper over it. Place a baking tray on top of the baking paper to prevent the dough from rising during baking.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 230 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes. Now eat this English Muffin any way you like. It can be toasted with butter and eaten with jam and ham.
